Kalzip combines sustainability with state-of-the-art technology to realise future-proof construction projects. With up to 98% recycled content, energy-efficient systems and flexible refurbishment solutions, we are setting new standards in the construction industry.
SUSTAINABILITY
At Kalzip, sustainability is at the centre of everything we do. We understand the responsibility we have towards the environment and future generations. We therefore rely on materials and processes that conserve resources and enable a sustainable future.
Up to 98% of our aluminium comes from recycling processes. By using recycled material, we not only reduce the consumption of raw materials, but also significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. Aluminium is extremely durable and retains its material properties even after recycling, making it an ideal choice for sustainable construction.
Our roof and façade systems are designed to be easily dismantled and reused in new projects. Re-use is the best way to meet Green Deal targets and minimise the environmental footprint. Although we do not have Cradle to Cradle certification, we still ensure a high level of reusability of our products.
Our environmental product declarations go far beyond the usual standards. They not only cover individual products such as profiles or panels, but the entire system. We take the worst-case scenario into account to ensure maximum transparency and reliability. Our products are also listed in the DGNB Navigator, which further emphasises their suitability for sustainable construction projects.
Kalzip reduces its ecological footprint through energy-efficient processes, resource-saving technologies and a sustainable supply chain. Certification to DIN EN ISO 14001 confirms the highest environmental standards. Emissions are minimised and raw materials are used efficiently. Find out how Kalzip enables sustainable construction methods and actively contributes to environmentally friendly architecture.
Durability is a decisive factor for sustainable construction. A roof system must not only withstand extreme weather conditions, but also retain its function and appearance for decades. Kalzip roofs have been installed since the late 1960s and many of these early roofs are still intact after more than 50 years. No other standing seam roof system offers such a long proven service life.
Sustainable building requires more than just innovative materials – it needs transparency, reliable data and a clear environmental assessment of the products used. In order to offer architects, planners and building owners maximum security, Kalzip roof and façade systems are officially listed in the DGNB Navigator.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability also means making sensible use of existing building fabric. Kalzip offers special refurbishment solutions that bring old and damaged roofs and façades up to the latest energy standards in an efficient and resource-saving manner, with a service life of at least 50 years. Sustainability also means making sensible use of existing building fabric. Kalzip offers special refurbishment solutions that bring old and damaged roofs and façades up to the latest energy standards in an efficient and resource-saving manner, with a service life of at least 50 years.
Thanks to the innovative design of our systems, it is possible to reuse them in new construction projects after dismantling. This means that elements that have already been installed can be given a second life, which makes both ecological and economic sense.
SUSTAINABILITY
Kalzip goes beyond conventional approaches to energy saving. Our systems are designed to minimise heat loss, especially with higher insulation thicknesses, and to create an optimum indoor climate without the need for significant heating or cooling.
Our unique polymer clip technology minimises thermal bridges and ensures excellent U-values. This means that heat loss is reduced to a minimum, resulting in a stable and comfortable indoor climate, regardless of the external conditions.
Light-coloured surfaces reflect sunlight and reduce the heat absorption of the building. This leads to less heating and reduces the need for air conditioning, which both saves energy costs and protects the environment. The Solar Reflective Index (SRI) is available for our standard coatings – please ask us for further details.
Our solar systems are not only powerful, but also flexible to use. In addition to our tried-and-tested AluPlusSolar, customised solar systems can easily be retrofitted, even on structurally challenging roof constructions. This allows buildings to be optimised in terms of energy without compromising on stability.
Our Kalzip NaturDach system is an outstanding example of sustainable building. It combines the advantages of a modern roof system with the ecological benefits of a green roof, which not only achieves optimum integration into the natural environment, but also significantly improves thermal insulation in summer and water retention in the event of heavy rainfall.
SUSTAINABILITY
Kalzip stands for innovative and sustainable building projects worldwide. Our systems are used in a wide range of building types, from residential buildings to office blocks and industrial buildings.
Reference projects
Our sustainable solutions are successfully used in numerous projects worldwide. Each project shows how Kalzip contributes to solving global challenges in the construction sector through a mix of solar, refurbishment and natural roofs.
SUSTAINABILITY Today, architecture must not only be functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also fulfil sustainable standards. Kalzip offers innovative roof and façade systems that are now listed in the DGNB Navigator. This provides architects, planners and auditors with detailed product information that can be used for DGNB certification.Kalzip in the DGNB Navigator – Sustainable building with certified solutions
Kalzip systems in the DGNB Navigator:
SUSTAINABILITY
Kalzip pursues an environmental strategy that goes beyond legal requirements. All employees are responsible for environmental protection, while the management bears overall responsibility.
A central component of the environmental policy is the continuous improvement of environmental performance. This is achieved through the Plan-Do-Check-Act process, which is integrated into all company processes. The DIN EN ISO 14001 certification confirms the high environmental standards.
Responsibility for the site
As the company site is located in a water protection area and close to a residential area, Kalzip makes special efforts to minimise environmental risks.
Sustainable supply chains
Kalzip works exclusively with partners and suppliers who comply with the highest environmental and quality standards. This ensures that sustainable principles are implemented along the entire value chain.
A sustainable approach to the environment is an integral part of the management system. This environmental policy is openly communicated and continuously developed in order to promote sustainable construction methods in the future.
SUSTAINABILITY
EPDs and other certificates
Our products are certified to the strictest international standards, including comprehensive environmental product declarations (EPDs). These certificates prove the environmental friendliness and efficiency of our systems and give our customers the security of making sustainable decisions. It goes without saying that Kalzip as a manufacturer has been certified to DIN ISO 14001 since 2000.
SUSTAINABILITY
The exceptional durability of Kalzip has been confirmed by long-term studies conducted by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). Even after decades of use, Kalzip systems show only minimal wear in the micrometre (µm) range.
✔ Low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant
✔ Extremely resistant to snow, wind and fire
✔ Durable and sustainable – built to last for generations
These unique properties make Kalzip the first choice for sustainable and economical construction that will stand the test of time.
The Kalzip standing seam roof was subjected to a comprehensive series of tests by the Farabaugh Engineering and Testing Laboratory in the USA to test its resistance to hurricanes. These tests included procedures for the structural performance of the roof system under static air pressure differential, an impact test for impact resistance (such as from large hail) and a test for rain penetration resistance in strong crosswinds. All tests were carried out in accordance with the Florida Testing Application Standard (TAS).
The Kalzip standing seam roof has successfully passed all tests and has proven to be extremely resistant to extreme weather events. Especially in regions such as Florida, which are regularly affected by hurricanes, these test results represent an important safety guarantee. This means that no other standing seam roof system offers such a long proven service life as the Kalzip standing seam roof system.
The Kalzip FC cladding system was tested for fire resistance under controlled conditions in the fire laboratory of Efectis UK/Ireland Ltd. During the test, which aimed to determine the fire properties of non-load-bearing external cladding systems, the system was exposed to a realistically simulated fire.
The Kalzip FC façade system successfully passed the test and achieved the fire behaviour classification according to BR135:2013 Annex B. The test was sponsored by Monami Construction.
