The façade protects buildings from a wide range of weather conditions and, in energy-efficient modern buildings, also from heat loss. As a further functional task, the exterior wall can also have a significant influence on the volume of external noise. The FC façade system from Kalzip has now been further developed to combine sound-absorbing properties with design flexibility. The structure is extremely simple: designed as a simple rear-ventilated curtain wall, sound-absorbing thermal insulation is installed between the substructure and the perforated aluminium panels to limit sound transmission. With a perforation of 3 or 6 millimetres in the panels, some of the sound can pass through the panels. There it encounters the thermal insulation and is absorbed by it.
