Kalzip combines sustainability with state-of-the-art technology to realise future-proof construction projects. With up to 98% recycled content, energy-efficient systems and flexible renovation solutions, we are setting new standards in the construction industry.
At Kalzip, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We understand our responsibility towards the environment and future generations. That is why we rely on materials and processes that conserve resources and enable a sustainable future.
Up to 98% of our aluminium comes from recycling processes. By using recycled material, we not only reduce raw material consumption, but also significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. Aluminium is extremely durable and retains its material properties even after recycling, making it an ideal choice for sustainable construction.
Our roof and façade systems are designed to be easily dismantled and reused in new projects. Reuse is the best way to meet the goals of the Green Deal and minimise our ecological footprint. Although we do not have Cradle to Cradle certification, we still guarantee a high degree of reusability for our products.
Our environmental product declarations go far beyond the usual standards. They cover not only individual products such as profiles or panels, but the entire system. We take the worst-case scenario into account to ensure maximum transparency and reliability. Our products are also listed in the DGNB Navigator, which further underlines their suitability for sustainable construction projects.
Kalzip reduces its ecological footprint through energy-efficient processes, resource-saving technologies and a sustainable supply chain. Certification according to DIN EN ISO 14001 confirms the highest environmental standards. Emissions are minimised and raw materials are used efficiently. Find out how Kalzip enables sustainable construction methods and actively contributes to environmentally friendly architecture.
Durability is a crucial factor in sustainable construction. A roofing system must not only withstand extreme weather conditions, but also retain its function and appearance for decades. Kalzip roofs have been installed since the late 1960s, and many of these first roofs are still intact after more than 50 years. No other standing seam roofing system offers such a long proven service life.
Sustainable construction requires more than just innovative materials – it needs transparency, reliable data and a clear environmental assessment of the products used. To offer architects, planners and builders maximum security, Kalzip roof and façade systems are officially listed in the DGNB Navigator.
Sustainability also means making sensible use of existing building structures. Kalzip offers special renovation solutions that bring old and damaged roofs and façades up to the latest energy standards in an efficient and resource-saving manner, with a durability of at least 50 years.
Renovation of existing roofs and façades:
Sustainability also means making sensible use of existing building fabric. Kalzip offers special renovation solutions that bring old and damaged roofs and façades up to the latest energy standards efficiently and in a resource-saving manner, with a durability of at least 50 years.
Product reuse:
Thanks to the innovative design of our systems, it is possible to reuse them in new construction projects after dismantling. This gives elements that have already been installed a second life, which makes sense both ecologically and economically.

Kalzip goes beyond conventional approaches to energy saving. Our systems are designed to minimise heat loss, especially with higher insulation thicknesses, and to create an optimal indoor climate without requiring significant expenditure on heating or cooling.
Polymer Clip Technology
Polymer clip technologyOur unique polymer clip technology minimises thermal bridges and ensures excellent U-values. This means that heat loss is reduced to a minimum, resulting in a stable and comfortable indoor climate regardless of the external conditions.
Cool Roofs
Light-coloured surfaces reflect sunlight and reduce the building’s heat absorption. This results in less heating and reduces the need for air conditioning, which saves energy costs and protects the environment. The Solar Reflective Index (SRI) is available for our standard coatings – please contact us for further details.
PV Systems
Our solar systems are not only powerful, but also flexible in their application. In addition to our proven AluPlusSolar, coordinated solar systems can be easily retrofitted, even on structurally challenging roof constructions. This allows buildings to be optimised for energy efficiency without compromising on stability.
Green Roof
Our Kalzip NaturDach system is an outstanding example of sustainable construction. It combines the advantages of a modern roofing system with the ecological benefits of a green roof, thereby not only achieving optimal integration into the natural environment, but also significantly improving summer heat protection and water retention during heavy rainfall.
Kalzip stands for innovative and sustainable construction projects worldwide. Our systems are used in a wide variety of building types, from residential buildings to office buildings and industrial buildings.
Reference Projects
Our sustainable solutions are being used successfully in numerous projects worldwide. Each project demonstrates how Kalzip contributes to solving global challenges in the construction sector through a combination of solar energy, renovation and green roofs.
Today, architecture must not only be functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also meet sustainability standards. Kalzip offers innovative roof and façade systems that are now listed in the DGNB Navigator. This provides architects, planners and auditors with detailed product information that is incorporated into DGNB certification.
Why is this worthwhile for architects?
Kalzip pursues an environmental strategy that goes beyond legal requirements. All employees are responsible for environmental protection, while management bears overall responsibility.
A central component of the environmental policy is the continuous improvement of environmental performance. This is achieved through the Plan-Do-Check-Act process, which is integrated into all company processes. DIN EN ISO 14001 certification confirms the high environmental standards.
Responsibility for the site
As the company site is located in a water protection area and close to a residential area, Kalzip makes special efforts to minimise environmental risks.
Sustainable supply chains
Kalzip works exclusively with partners and suppliers who adhere to the highest environmental and quality standards. This ensures that sustainable principles are implemented throughout the entire value chain.
Sustainable environmental management is an integral part of the management system. This environmental policy is openly communicated and continuously developed in order to promote sustainable construction methods in the future.
EPDs and other certificates
Our products are certified according to the most stringent international standards, including comprehensive environmental product declarations (EPDs). These certificates prove the environmental friendliness and efficiency of our systems and give our customers the confidence to make sustainable decisions. Naturally, Kalzip has been certified according to DIN ISO 14001 as a manufacturer since 2000.

service life
Service life: The exceptional durability of Kalzip has been confirmed by long-term studies conducted by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). Even after decades of use, Kalzip systems show only minimal wear in the micrometre range (µm).
✔ Low maintenance and corrosion resistant
✔ Extremely resistant to snow, wind and fire
✔ Durable and sustainable – built to last for generations
These unique properties make Kalzip the first choice for sustainable and economical construction that will stand the test of time for decades.
Kalzip standing seam roof – Proven durability and performance under extreme conditions.
The Kalzip standing seam roof underwent a comprehensive series of tests at the Farabaugh Engineering and Testing Laboratory in the USA to test its resistance to hurricanes. These tests included procedures to assess the structural performance of the roof system under static air pressure differences, an impact test to assess impact resistance (e.g. from large hailstones) and a test to assess rain penetration resistance in strong crosswinds. All tests were conducted in accordance with the Florida Testing Application Standard (TAS).
Results of the hurricane tests:
The Kalzip standing seam roof has successfully passed all tests and proven to be extremely resistant to extreme weather events. These test results represent an important safety guarantee, particularly in regions such as Florida, which are regularly affected by hurricanes. No other standing seam roof system offers such a long proven service life as the Kalzip standing seam roof system.
Kalzip FC façade – tested safety in case of fire
The Kalzip FC façade system was tested for fire resistance under controlled conditions in the fire laboratory of Efectis UK/Ireland Ltd. During the test, which aimed to determine the fire properties of non-load-bearing external cladding systems, the system was exposed to a realistically simulated fire.
Test results:
The Kalzip FC façade system successfully passed the test and achieved the fire behaviour classification in accordance with BR135:2013 Annex B. The test was sponsored by Monami Construction.
