A ROOF – MORE THAN JUST PROTECTION
Kalzip is proud to contribute to the renovation of the Bernabéu Stadium by supplying a spectacular roof system that not only protects but also inspires. The Kalzip roof covers an area of around 30,900 square metres and is made from our 65/400 profiles and customised tapered sheets. These specially developed components combine aesthetic elegance with functional excellence, making them ideal for this iconic project.
The profile panels and components used are made of aluminium. The metal’s once poor image due to the high energy consumption involved in its production has long since been rehabilitated. The material can be recycled as often as desired with significantly lower energy consumption and therefore has sufficient resources. Kalzip uses aluminium sheets with a recycled content of up to 96 per cent for its production. All waste generated during production or on construction sites is also returned to the material cycle.
In the case of the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, the client placed particular emphasis on the use of sustainable products with the aim of achieving the LEED Gold Standard. For example, Green Steel was used for the substructure. For the production of the Kalzip systems used, a special alloy was ordered from the supplier, which exceeds the classic 96 per cent recycled content.
