WOOD AND METAL IN HARMONY
The ‘Regards sur parc’ residential project in the ‘Bagatelle’ neighbourhood in Saint Herblain near Nantes is an ensemble of buildings that offers 70 flats and 10 additional intermediate housing options. The English translation ‘views of the park’ is to be understood literally – the residential complex of four buildings is surrounded by meadows and a river. As a contrast to this, the architectural firm LeibarSeigneurin Architectes chose a rainscreen façade, which creates a modern image with its matt-glossy look and is divided into even, rectangular areas. A balcony or loggia was planned for each flat in the design. The natural look of the timber-framed balconies stands out clearly from the matt-gloss, metallic rainscreen façade.

FC FACADE AS CENTREPIECE
The FC façade system from Kalzip was used. In the colour AluPlusPatina Bronze B20, the satin-finish material gently reflects the daylight. The otherwise cool-pale façade elements appear to take on the colour of the wooden balconies when exposed to sunlight and depending on the angle of inclination.
The various construction widths FC 30/400, FC 30/600 and FC 30/800 were installed in portrait format. In a seemingly random alternation, they break up the rigid geometry of the buildings and allow different opening shapes: Windows and doors could thus be realised in different sizes and, together with the balconies, blend harmoniously into the façade.

HIGH FUNCTIONALITY
The FC façade system is not only an aesthetically pleasing system, it is also highly functional. Designed as a ventilated rainscreen façade, thermal insulation can be integrated, which contributes to the energy efficiency of the building. The system is also particularly sustainable. Material consisting of 96 per cent recycled content is used in the production of the Aliminium panels. If the façade is replaced, the FC panels can either be reused in another project or returned to the recycling cycle without any great effort.
