Kalzip® SYSTEM BRACKET

The thermal bridge-optimised system fastener for Kalzip profiled sheets. Kalzip’s patented E-Klipp represents a major innovation in the design of energy-efficient roofing systems. This product has been specially developed to optimise thermal insulation and significantly reduce thermal bridges, resulting in a substantial reduction in energy loss. The E-Clip forms a highly insulating layer, thereby contributing to an improvement in the building’s overall energy efficiency.

The E-Clip combines increased load-bearing capacity with enhanced stability. This is achieved through a steel insert, which provides additional strength. A key feature is the UV-resistant, glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide sheath wrapped around the metal core, which is made entirely from recycled material and has significantly lower thermal conductivity than its all-metal predecessors.

The E-Klipp plays a key role in ensuring compliance with the U-values stipulated by both the EnEV and the Building Energy Act (GEG). It enables the creation of a wide variety of roof geometries that meet legal requirements whilst also taking into account the design aspects of the architecture. In a standard industrial double-skin roof structure, the E-Clip achieves a U-value of less than 0.17 W/m·K, and with special roof systems such as Duo Plus E and Duo E, these values can be exceeded, with thermal conductivity being particularly low at a U-value of 0.13 W/m·K. Compared to a conventional metal clip, the thermal transmittance is around 30 per cent lower in almost all roof structures.

In addition to improving U-values, the E-Clip was also designed with ease of installation in mind. The metal core not only forms the basis for a sturdy clip and thus ensures high load-bearing capacity within the overall structure, but also provides safety during installation. The torque-controlled SDK screws grip only metal, enabling simple and secure installation of the E-Clips on various substrates. The symmetrical clip head facilitates the quick and error-free installation of Kalzip profiled sheets. The plastic coating on the clips allows the profiled sheets to move more freely over them, enabling unhindered expansion and thus safer installation, even of long profiled sheets. In terms of safety, the E-Clip also complies with DIN standard 18234 on structural fire protection

Kalzip roof and wall systems can be flexibly adapted to meet architectural and technical requirements in industrial, private and public sectors, and offer both reliable and effective protection against lightning strikes on buildings and their electromagnetic effects on electrical systems.

There are two ways to implement a cost-effective and efficient measure to protect Kalzip profiled sheets from lightning and its effects:

  • as a lightning protection system for buildings
  • as building shielding against the electromagnetic effects of lightning strikes.

Kalzip as a fall arrest system

Kalzip profiled sheets are classified as natural air-termination systems in accordance with DIN EN 62305-3, as their flanged edges act as a permanent electrical connection. This is subject to the condition that the profiled sheets are conductively connected to earth.

If the Kalzip profiled sheets are coated, they must undergo type testing in accordance with DIN V VDE V 0185-600. Kalzip has passed this test (test report no. BET/Corus 08-06-17-1d available on request).

This means that all roofs made from Kalzip profiled sheets are suitable, without any further requirements, for use as a natural component of a standard-compliant lightning protection system in accordance with VDE 0185-305-3 (IEC/EN 62305-3). Tested clamps are available for connecting the Kalzip profiled sheets. The clamps were developed in close collaboration between Kalzip and OBO Bettermann and tested for lightning current carrying capacity in accordance with VDE 0185-561-1 IEC/EN 62561-1 (test certificate available on request).

The Kalzip Safety Plus roof walkway system with safety railings ensures that all users can move freely and safely on a slip-resistant surface. Tests carried out on the entire structure, and in particular on the fixings to the Kalzip standing seam panels, ensure that the functionality and durability of the Kalzip roof cladding are maintained. The Safety Plus roof walkway system can be used on all Kalzip profile types and roofs.

Kalzip aluminium access and walkway gratings have been specially developed to ensure safe and regular access to sloping Kalzip roofs. They are designed for use wherever recurring maintenance work needs to be carried out, for example on building services such as chimneys, skylights, heating and solar systems. In addition to the walkway grating bracket, the system comprises a short step, a standing step and a continuous walkway grating. These permanently installed gratings can be continuously adjusted to any roof pitch up to a maximum of 45° using semi-circular perforated discs.

Produktvorteile

  • Safe access to sloping Kalzip roofs
  • Infinitely adjustable from 0° to 45°, thus
  • Versatile
  • Available in either bare aluminium or coated in RAL colours
  • Blends in perfectly with the roof surface
  • No penetration of the roof membrane
  • Attachment to the flanged bars
  • Tested and certified in accordance with DIN EN 516

The CFP for aluminium standing seam roofs is mounted on the flanges of the profiled sheets using Kalzip clamps approved by the building authorities, without penetrating the roof. As a rope system, the fall protection system is designed for a maximum of six people and is approved by the building authorities.

In the event of a fall, the forces acting on the system are absorbed by the coils located in the roof anchors.

The absorber is designed to limit the maximum force exerted by up to six people in the event of a fall to less than 10 kN, thereby preventing damage to the profiled panels.

In regions with heavy snowfall, the installation of snow retention systems may be required to protect against falling snow drifts and sheets of ice. Furthermore, in extreme weather conditions, the formation of ice dams or barriers is to be expected, which can cause considerable damage to gutters and other roof fittings. For these regions, the use of Kalzip snow retention systems distributed across the entire surface is recommended. Furthermore, in areas at risk of ice accumulation due to shading, the build-up of ice should be prevented.
