Highlight of the month
Next stop: Warsaw West Railway Station
Centrally located in Poland, Warszawa Zachodnia railway station – Warsaw West Station – is one of the country’s most important transport hubs. However, an outdated infrastructure and the increasing number of travellers repeatedly caused capacity bottlenecks. To remedy this, a large-scale refurbishment concept was rolled out for the entire station area.
A modern, timeless architectural concept was incorporated into the planning for the modernisation of the tracks and the entire infrastructure. The roofing of the platforms unfolds like an accordion over the platforms and tracks. Viewed from above, diamond-shaped windows can be seen in the uniform roof landscape, which allow daylight to enter the platforms. These are framed by ascending and descending trapezoidal metal roof surfaces.
The roof surfaces were realised with a system from Kalzip. The aluminium profile sheets in the dimensions 65/400 could be easily adapted to the specified dimensions for this project. With the AluPlusPatina surface finish, the standing seam profiles radiate uniformity.
Construction in sections
A trapezoidal steel profile was first used on the steel girders. The specialist tradesmen first laid a vapour barrier on top of this and then fitted the Kalzip composite clips belonging to the system. Finally, the industrially manufactured Kalzip standing seam profile panels were laid and flanged onto the heads of the composite clips. Mineral thermal insulation was used in the space in between.
Solar energy supply
Photovoltaic modules are also installed on the roofs to supply the Warsaw West railway station with sustainably generated energy. Kalzip has developed a bracket for rooftop systems that can be easily and securely mounted on the standing seams of the roof. The flexible and efficient system enables safe, penetration-free and simple installation of PV systems, even after installation.
For subsequent maintenance and cleaning work on the solar installation, a Kalzip roof walkway system was also installed, which provides safe steps and walkway gratings for safe access.
Thoughtfully considered. KALZIP.
