Technical base hangar, Athens Airport
The Greek airline Aegean Airlines has made significant changes to its base at Athens-Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. The new concept combines a centre for aircraft maintenance services with a centre for flight simulators and crew training. The former Olympic Aviation hangar was modernised and transformed for this purpose.
The newly created ‘Green Hangar’ is equipped with Greece’s largest photovoltaic roof system. A sustainable roof system from Kalzip was used to re-roof the hangar. A compatible system was clamped onto the standing seams, onto which the 5238 solar panels were mounted.
