Kalzip AluPlusPatina provides a high quality, pre-weathered matt appearance to Kalzip aluminium profiled sheets, giving architects an unparalleled choice of highly durable aluminium building envelope materials.
Available in natural aluminium and a new range of subtly refined colour-patinated shades of gold and bronze, these distinctive metallic lustre finishes can be supplied in both stucco embossed and mill finish for roof and wall cladding applications.
Produced in an electrolytic passivation process, AluPlusPatina’s unique surface treatment means that the thickness of the passivated coating remains unchanged, over time, ensuring a highly durable material with a long service life.
AluPlusPatina is available in all Kalzip cover widths as well as for the new Kalzip FC facade system.

Kalzip AluPlusPatina is a range of natural and colour-patinated aluminium surface finishes, produced in an electrolytic passivation process which creates a nanoporous layer on the surface of the metal.
The addition of colours into the production process means dyes are adsorbed into the pores of the passivated coating providing a unique, natural metallic finish to the material.
The electrolytic sealing of the surface ensures long term durability of the coating.

In addition to the natural weathered look, Kalzip AluPlusPatina is available in a range of shades in both gold and bronze, in mill-finish as well as stucco embossed aluminium.

Kalzip AluPlusPatina is available in all Kalzip standard cover widths in the following gauges:
0.7 mm (bronze only), 0.8 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.0 mm (standard), 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm (eg for flashings or façades)

Durability and surface aging |
Over the time Kalzip AluPlusPatina’s passivated layer thickness remains unchanged compared to the initial thickness.
The charateristics of this passivated surface finish are comparable to those of a natural aluminium sheet that has been weathered over a number of years. The natural aging process will continue at the normal rate when exposed to weathering.
As the colour dyes are locked into the pores, no deterioration due to corrosion, adhesion failures, blooming, peeling, blistering or cracking should be expected.
Due to the organic dyes gold finishes will mature gradually over the life of the building. None of the bronze finishes with their inorganic dyes exhibit any colour fading, colour shifting or yellowing.

Colour variation |
Whilst we endeavour to ensure the highest level of consistency in appearance between different coils, due to the nature of the primary hot-milling production process and in accordance with DIN/BS EN 485-1 there may be some natural variability which can read through the non-opaque coloured passivation layer.

Environmental impact |
The electrolytic AluPlusPatina treatment is one of the more environmentally friendly metal finishing processes, the product does not contain heavy metals, halogens or volatiles.
The AluPlusPatina treatment process does not produce solvent emissions. The use of an AluPlusPatina finish does not increase the CO2 emissions within the Kalzip production process.
AluPlusPatina aluminium is fully recyclable; there is no need for any pre-treatment, separation or abrasion of the surface required prior to undergoing the recycling process.
